2nd victim in Dallas ICE facility shooting dies

..... A second detainee who was shot at a Dallas Immigration and Customs enforcement facility on September 24 [2025] had died of his injuries, reported a Latino civil rights organization that represents his family.
..... Miguel Angel Garcia-Hernandez, 32, was one of three detainees who were shot by a gunman stationed on a nearby rooftop on September 24 [2025] and had been in critical condition in the hospital. He died after being removed from life support the League of united Latin American Citizens announced September 30. [2025] His wife previous identified him to USA Today as Miguel Angel Garcia Medina.
..... "My husband Miguel was a good man, a loving father, and the provider for our family," his wife, Stephany Gauffeny, said in a statement provided by LULC. "We had just bough our first home together, and he worked hard every dingle day to make sure our children had what they needed."
..... Garica-Hernandez leaves behind his wife and four children, with a fifth on the way. Gauffeny previously told USA Today her husband was taken into ICE custody after a DUI but had plans to remain in the United States and keep his family together.
..... Authorities identified Joshua Jahn, 29, as the suspect who climbed up onto a roof nearby and fired at the ICE facility, striking the detainees in a van in a sally port, before taking his own life. According to federal officials, the suspect was targeting ICE agents.
..... Norlan Guzman-Fuentes was also fatally shot in the attack, according to public records and LULAC.
..... Gauffeny said her husband had been shot about eight times in the shoulder, stomach, tailbone, and neck, causing a stroke.
..... Eric Cedillo, national legal adviser at the League of United Latin American Citizens, previously said that despite the DUI infraction, Garcia-Hernandez had been trying to get permanent residence and was brought to the United States as a teen from Mexico.
..... "His death is a senseless tragedy that has left our family shattered. I do not know how to explain to our children that their father is gone," Gauffeny said in the statement provided by LULAC.
