Plans to release a report on New Jersey's mysterious drone activity

..... Trump said that he wants to release a report on the alleged drone activity that has been occurring in New Jersey, causing concern and speculation among residents and leading FAA to issue flight restrictions over more than 50 towns around the state.
..... At his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on January 9, [2025] Trump said he would issues report on the alleged drones "about one day" into his administration.

Trump 'wants to kill' congestion pricing

Threat to offshore wind projects

..... Offshore wind projects in New Jersey and around the country are facing multiple threats as Trump enter office.
..... During a January [2025] news conference, as reported by politico, Trump called windmills "the most expensive energy ever" and said that he would push for policy to stop windmills form being built.
..... He cited New Jersey specifically, saying "Off the coast of New Jersey, they want to build like 200 windmills and people are going crazy, nobody wants them."
..... Three offshore wind projects are in the works in New Jersey.
..... While offshore wind has gathered a lot of support around the state, it has also become a point of controversy, with anti-offshore wind organization. Save LBI suing a group of federal agencies and Atlantic shore Offshore Wind over the planned projects, as reported by the Asbuary Park Press.
..... South Jersey Representative Jeff van Drew said that stopping offshore wind is a top priority, writing in a post on X, "With President rump back in office, we will work together to end the Green New scam and shut down these disastrous offshore wind projects."

The effects of mass deportation in New Jersey

..... Throughout his campaign, Trump has vowed to conduct mass deportations, writing on his platform that he promises to "carry out the largest deportation operation in American history."

If he carries out his plans for mass deportation, New Jersey would likely feel tis effects, as a 2022 report by the American Immigration Council found that undocumented residents made up about 5% of the state's workforce and paid $3.4 billion in taxes, $1.3 billion of which went to state and local governments.
..... It is estimated that there are more than 470,000 undocumented immigrants living in New Jersey.

A promise to lift the SALT tax cap

..... In 2017, Trump signed a tax law that set a $10,000 cap on state and local deductions, also known as SALT, a move critics have said targets Democratic-leaning stats with high property taxes such as New Jersey, New York and California. The cap is set to expire at the end of the year. [2025]

During the meeting, Trump told them to go back to Congress and negotiate a "fair number" on the controversial cap.
