Baby formula recall underway after botulism reports

..... A baby formula is begin recalled after the discovery of suspected links to infant botulism in 10 states, including New Jersey.
..... Two lots of ByHeart, an organic baby formula company known for whole nutrition formula, have been voluntarily recalled after the U.S. food and Drug Administration recommended it.
..... Although ByHeart has complied with the recall and is recommending discontinuing use of all related products, the company denied a direct link between its formula and infant botulism, noting in a pubic statement that "no related toxins have been found in any ByHeart product."
..... So far, there have been 13 cases of infant botulism across 10 states, all of which have resulted in hospitalization. As of November 8 [2025] there had been nor reported deaths.

What is infant botulism?

..... Infant botulism is a bacteria-made toxin that can overtake an infant's large intestine after certain bacteria are consumed.

* California (two cases).
* Illinois (two cases).
* Minnesota.
* New Jersey.
* Oregon.
* Pennsylvania.
* Rhode Island.
* Texas (two cases).
* Washington.
..... The affected formula was distributed Online and nationwide, meaning that infants in may state could be affected.
..... Officials in several states are working to collect all leftover ByHeart infant formula for testing.
..... The FDA and ByHeart are working to ensure that all potentially affected products are removed form the market.

What is being recalled?

..... These lots of ByHeart's Whole Nutrition Infant Formula are recalled:
* Lot 206VABP.251261P2, with a use-by date of December 1, 2026.
* Lot 206VABP/251121P2 with a use-by date of December 1, 2026.
..... The lot code and use-by date can be found on the bottom of the infant formula can.
..... The FDA noted the recall of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula makes up a small percentage of sold infant formulas in the U.S. and should not create any kind of shortage concerns.
