Billions going to Trump's immigration crackdown will affect New Jersey

..... The American Immigration Council, a Washington, D.C.-based group, did a breakdown of the $170.7 billion from the One Big Beautiful Bill that would fund the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

Here's a look at where the money is going, and also how much the new fee structurer will cost immigrants.
..... The following list shows the amount allotted, from largest to smallest:
* $51.6 billion - The construction and maintenance of the southern U.S. border wall, customs and Border Protection checkpoints and CBP facilities.
* $45 billion - the expansion of capacity at detention centers.
* $29.9 billion - The enforcement and removal of undocumented immigrants (hiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, transportation costs and detaining families).
* $13.5 billion - Cost-reimbursement funds for state immigration and border enforcement.
* $10 billion - Department of Homeland Secretory cost-reimbursement fund for border enforcement.
* 7.8 billion - Hiring Border Patrol agents and vehicles, and improvements to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
* $6.2 billion - implementing border technology and vetting.
*$3.3 billion - Prosecutions of non-citizens, compensating local governments for incarcerating non-citizens, combating drug trafficking and paying Immigration judges.
* #2.1 billion - Border processing (unaccompanied children Remain in Mexico and expedited removal).
* $1 billion - Operation Stonegarden (funding to state and local law enforcement agencies to support border enforcement).

While there's plenty of taxpayer money available for immigration enforcement actions, immigrants are being hurt by the money coming out of their pockets because of the bill.
..... The bill establishes a new fee structure for immigraito9n filings on a humanitarian bases.
* A $100 asylum fee, a $550 additional fee for an initial application for work authorization and a $275 charge for renewal of that authorization.
* a $1,000 fee for individuals to apply to be allowed into the United States on immigrant parole (temporary permission granted for humanitarian or medical reasons), an additional $550 for initial work authorization and $275 for renewal.
* A $550 registration fee for those seeking Temporary Protected Status (status for people form designated countries facing unsafe conditions), $550 for initial employment authorization and $275 for renewal.

There are also fees connected to immigration court proceedings, and people entering illegally at border checkpoints will be assessed $5,000.
