      December 13, 2021 - One challenging part of my job involves sharing news that I know will not be well-received. The good news is that we were able to get to this point in the school year without many COVID issues. The bad news is that we see that changing rapidly. Click "Learn More" to read the complete letter.

  • 26. Now: Information Letter from the superintendent:
    • IMPORTANT - Letter from the Superintendent

      December 16, 2021 - Dear Parents and Guardians: Our school system is responding to a nationwide generalized threat about potential school shootings on Friday, December 17th. We know that a school shooting video has been circulated on Tik-Tok and other platforms. It is likely that this information will continue to spread throughout the evening. There is no direct connection to the Wayne Township Public Schools and there is no specific, credible information. As a precaution, we discussed the matter with the Wayne Police Department. We will have an increased police presence at all of our schools tomorrow, December 17th.

    27. Now; Superintendent letter;

      • Letter from the Superintendent - December 20, 2021

        December 20, 2021 - Dear Parents and Guardians: I am happy to inform you that the District is able to revert to the quarantine standard that we have been following all year. The recent change to a fourteen-day quarantine resulted from the New Jersey Department of Health initiating changes when our region was classified as high risk for COVID. Subsequent changes from the New Jersey Department of Health made it possible to revert to a ten-day quarantine. A number of students and classes were quarantined under the fourteen-day standard and we have since notified parents that their children may return within the ten-day quarantine standard.

      28. Now; Supertendent letter-

      • Letter from the Superintendent - December 21, 2021

        December 21, 2021 - Dear Parents and Guardians: Over the past few days, our teachers and administrators have encountered situations where parents shared that their children are “going virtual” due to concerns about COVID. It is certainly understandable that virtual instruction might be a sensible choice for some families given the rapid increase in COVID cases in our community. While the District does allow for limited virtual instruction in cases of quarantine, the ability to opt for virtual instruction at any time no longer exists.

      29. Now.

      • Letter from the Superintendent - December 23, 2021

        December 23, 2021 - Dear Wayne Schools Community: Best wishes to all members of the Wayne Schools community for a joyous holiday season! We know the past year has been tough on everyone, but we also know better days are ahead. Schools work best when education is treated as a partnership between schools and the community and organized around the needs of children. We look forward to working together and building upon this partnership in 2022.
