FBI searches GA election center over 2020 vote

The search at the election center marks the latest escalation of the Trump administration's efforts to reexamine and recast the 2020 presidential election, which former President Joe Biden won. President Donald Trump, who returned to the presidency for a second term after winning the 2024 election, has falsely claimed that the 2020 election was stolen.
..... While the FBI didn't share details about the search, CBS News, Reuters and Fox News reported that it relates to the 2020 election, citing anonymous sources. The bureau confirmed to USA Today that it is "conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity," but said no other information is available.
.... Kristin Nabers, Georgia state director for All Voting is Local, a nonpartisan nonprofit that works for free and fair elections at the state and local levels, said seesaw three large moving vans at the elections center when she arrived after hearing of the FBI's presence.
..... She believes Trump is "trying to rewrite history."
..... "It looks like they are trying to do a power grab as they can't come to grips with the fact that they lost in 2020, and now they want to tear down the American election system out of spite," Nabers said.
..... Fulton county, which includes Atlantis, is Georgia's most populous county. Biden's win there in 2020 helped propel him to victory in the state, which had 16 presidential electoral votes. Biden won the 2020 election with 306 electoral votes to Trump's 232.

In a phone call with Georgeta's Republican Secretary of State brad Raffensperger on January 2, 2021, Trump said., "I just need 11,780 votes" in Georgia. Raffensperger defended the accuracy of the lecithin results.

Nabers is worried the federal government may use its probe in Georgia as a test case for the rest of the nation, especially with the 2026 midterm election looming.

..... Fulton County Commissioner Mo Ivory said federal officials were collecting 700 boxes of ballots from a secure location. In a video posted to social media, she accused Trump of "trying to cerate chaos" to benefit Republicans in the November [2026] midterm elections.
