..... The suspect in the deadly September 24 [2025] shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Dallas has been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn.
      .....
Nancy Larson, acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, identified the alleged gunman at a news conference on September 25. [2025] She added that FBI agents executed a search warrant at Jahn's home and found notes that included a "game-plan of the attack" and to "target areas at the facility."
..... The latest information comes a day after Jahn allegedly fired at the facility from a nearby rooftop, killing one detainee and critical wounding tow others. the gunman was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
    .....
Officials said they were investigating the incident as a targeted attack on immigration agents, though no officers were wounded. FBI Director Kash Patel said unspent shell casing with "ANTI-ICE" written on it was found near the gunman's body.
..... As investigators work to identify a motive in the shooting of three detainees at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, the FBI alleged in an update on September 25 [2025] that the evidence so far has revealed a high degree of planning in the attack and a desire to instill "real terror" in ICE agents.
..... The shooting unfolded at an ICE field office in Texas at about 6:40 AM. on September 24 [2025] when a suspect poised on a nervy rooftop opened fire, authorities said. The shooter also died an apparent self-inflected gunshot would and was found near an unspent shell casing with "ANTI0ICE" written on it, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
    .....
Patel said investigators gathered evidence showing a "high degree of pre-attack planning." The shooter allegedly downloaded a document containing a list of Department of Homeland Security facilities, searched for apps that tracked the presence of ICE agents, sought information on ballistics and looked into video footage of the Assassination of Charlie Kirk, the FBI director shared on X.
..... Patel also said investigators recovered a handwritten note residing "Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, 'is there a sniper with AP (armor piercing) rounds on that roof?'"
..... The writing and search history were retrieved from electronic devices and other items seized form the shooter's home, Patel said.
    .....
The Department of Homeland Security said it pals to beef up safety protocols at ICE facilities across the country in the wake of the shooting.
..... White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted reports that the alleged shooter in Dallas had previously sued a popular app that flags sightings of mitigation officers.
..... Leavitt criticized CNN for reporting on ICEBlock in June [2025] and noted the app's tie to the "leftist lunatic shooter" in Dallas this week. [09/23/2025]
Patel released details about the shooter's Internet history, including using "apps that tracked the presence of ICE agents," without naming ICEBlock.
..... ICEBlock's developer Joshua Allen defended the service in an interview with USA Today in the wake of the shooting. He said the theory that reported sightings of ICE officers led directly to this week's [09/24/2025] shooting was far flung.
..... "Somebody would have to see the enforcement action, be within 5 miles of the report and then somehow say, PK, now they're done so they'll be back to the booking facility soon," Allen said. "this is insanity."
    .....
Allen said reported ICE activity sightings are purged every four hours and that no predictive analytics are performed to anticipate ICE movements.
..... The App is anonymous and does not track logins. As of this month [09/2025] the app has 1.1 million active users, Allen said. he cited case law upholding the legality of the Waze app, which flags speeding enforcement by police.
..... Allen said he's yet to receive any communications from the government.
..... I have an amazing legal team, and it makes no sense for them to try to do anything to shut it down," Allen said. "So that leaves them with these performative statements and trying to bully me.
