Hand warmers recalled after death, 350 injuries

..... A rechargeable hand warner imported form China and sold Online by Amazon and Walmart is being recalled after causing 350 injuries and one death officials announced.

On July 30, [2026] the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the importer, Shenzhen Street Cat Technology, announced there recall of about 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable Hand Warmers.
..... "The lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards," the commission said.

The company is offering consumers a refund for the product. The models that are part of this recall are: UT3053,UT3056, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01 and Ho1(PD).
..... The hand warmers were sold Online by Amazon.com Occopa.com , Ocoopa.net and Walmart.com from September 2018 through May 2026.
..... The commission said consumes should immediately stop using the recalled hand warmers and contact OCOPA Direct for a full refund in the form of an OCCOPA gift card or the original form of payment.
