..... In light of the Trump administration's "Big Beautiful Bill" and the affect it may have on New Jersey and its residents moving forward, Governor Phil Murphy singed an executive order directing state magnetics to immediately evaluate the impacts of the federal legislation on their budgets, peritoneal and programs.
..... The bill affects various essential programs including Medicaid and SNAP and cuts incentive for renewable energy programs and zero-emission vehicles. It is also projected to add trillions of dollars to the atonality debt and increase the government's debt-servicing costs.
..... "The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a fiscal disaster that fails to deliver for working-class families in New Jersey and across the county," Murphy said in a statement.
..... "This law rips away heath care from vulnerable children and families, guts food assistance, and raises costs for everyday Americans."
..... The governor said this executive order is a way of "mobilizing to mitigate harm to New Jerseyans and planning to navigate new red tape form Washington, D.C."
..... All state agencies will be required to submit a preliminary assessment of the bill's impact along with any related legislative measures they recommend for the governor to support during this legislative session by October 1. [2025]
..... They will also be required to provide a list of any non-legislative measures that they recommend considering to address the adverse impact of the bill by November 15. [2025]
..... Murphy's office will review those assessments and recommendations and coordinate responsive activities with the agencies. He may also consider additional legislation, gubernatorial measures and Cabinet-level actions to address the impact of the bill.
