NHTSA issues recalls on more than 359K vehicles

..... The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls for September 29 to October 5, [2024] with the biggest impact on Jeep SUVs and ram trucks.

Jeep hybrids: 154K

..... About 154,032 Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler hybrids are being recalled for fire risk. Chrysler says their high-voltage batteries may fail internally and lead to a fire. Stellantis said13 fires had been reported in parked cares. The recall applies to Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe models from 2022-2204/
..... Dealers will update the high-voltage battery pack software and replace the battery pack assembly if necessary, free of charge. Vehicles in this recall that were previously recalled for the same issue will need the new remedy.

Ram 1500: 129K

..... Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 129.313 of tis 2023-2024 Ra, 1500 pickup trucks. "the turn signal self-canceling feature may not function properly," the NHTSA report said. A malfunctioning turn signal will fail to indicate to other drivers if the vehicle plans to change direction increasing the risk of a crash, the report said.
..... Frank Matyok, a spokesperson for Stellantis, said in a statement that some trucks "may have been built with steering column control modules that are out of specification." there have been no reports of injuries.

Smaller recalls

* Tesla Cybertruck - Tesla is recalling 27,185 of its 2024 cybertruck vehicles because "the rear-view camera image may be delayed after shifting into reverse," as per the NHTSA report. This issue can increase the risk of a crash. Tesla has released a free over-the-air software update for affected vehicles.
* Nissan Leaf - Nissan is recalling 23,887 pf its 2019-2020 LEAF vehicles that are equipped with a Level 3 quick changing port. The automotive manufacturer said in the NHTSA report that "the lithium-ion battery may overheat during Level 3 charing,' which increases the risk of a fire.
..... Nissan is warning owners not to sue Level 3 quick charing until the remedy is completed.
..... Once the remedy becomes available, declares will update the battery software for free.
* Harley-Davidson Softail - Harley-Davidson is recalling 12,929 of its 2018-2019 motorcycles, the Softail FXBB Street Bob and Softail FXLR Low rider. "the front time inflation pressure on the VIN label may be less than the stated front gross axle weight rating, the NHTSA report said. Incorrect time pressure information may result in overloading the front time, increasing the risk of a crash.
..... To resolve the issue, Harley-Davision will mail labels with installation instructions and owner's manual inserts.
