No plan for Fair Lawn data center, builder says
Flyer sparked talk about former Nabisco property

..... A flyer advertising for a potential data center at the former Nabisco site in Fair Lawn has residents chatting on social media, but the developer said here are no immediate plans to build one.

Developer and property owner Greek Real Estate Partners has approved to build a warehouse covering 644,000 square feet, about the size of Prudential Center in Newark, also with 10,000 parking spaces at the Route 208 site. The project was approved by Fair Lawn's Planning Board in 2023.
..... David Greek managing partner at Greek Real Estate Partners, said on August 17 [2026] that the company is investigating all potential sues for the site and that the data center is one alternative being considered.

"The underlying zoning for the site allows for quite a wide variety of uses, and we're diligently investigating each one of those," Greek said. "Many of them do not make sense economically. so we're trying to focus on the ones that do."
..... He said that over the weekend, one of the firm's marketing flyers from about four months ago was found and discussed by some local Facebook groups.
..... "This is not new information or new marketing materials," Greek said. "The public is just now paying attention to it, I suppose."
..... Mayor Cristina Cutrone said the approve by the Planning Board for the former Nabisco property authorizes only the construction of a distribution warehouse.
..... "To be clear, those approvals do not authorize a data center at the property, and there are no pending applications before the borough for a data center at the site," Cutrone said.

The mayor said she and the council have "consistently stated that we have no interest in making Fair Lawn a destination for data centers' and they have "not sought, encouraged or approved a data center for the former Nabisco property."
..... "The borough's focus remains on responsible redevelopment that is consistent with the executed redevelopment agreement between the borough and the property owner/redeveloper and serves the interest of our residents and the Fair Lawn community," Cutrpone said.

Greek said the company will build the approved 650,000-square-foot warehouse building if it finds a tenant, but "there are no plans to build it speculatively right now."
..... "While we're waiting to find a tenant for that site, we're continuing to investigate alternative uses in case we need to pivot," Greek said. "We are not chaining any of the existing approvals with the town at this moment."
