Peach recall expands,
7 sickened in New Jersey

..... Seven people in New Jersey have been sickened in an outbreak of salmonella tied to contaminated peaches.
..... Loose peaches and peach salsa made from peaches distributed by a Fresno, California company have been recalled as the outbreak has expanded to affect 78 people in 12 states.
..... "Do not eat, serve, or sell recalled peaches packed or supplied by Prima Wawona or Wawona packing Company LLC, or food made with these peaches," the federal Centers for disease Control and Prevention said. "If you have loose peaches and can't tell where they're from, throw them out."
..... Three people in New Jersey were hospitalized as the result of the salmonella contamination, the state Department of Health said Thursday. [08/27/2020] Those affected ranged in age from 2 to 78, with a median age of 63. Two were residents of Cumberland Count, Burlington, Camden, Essex, Morris and Union counties [NJ] each reported one case.
..... Prima Wawona expanded its recall this week [08/27/2020] to include all loose peaches sold through August 3 [2020] and all bagged Wawona and Wawona Organic peaches sold through August 19. [2020]
..... Target, Walmart and Wegmans are among the retailers that have recalled the Wowona peaches or food made with them, the CDC said.
..... No deaths have been reported, but 23 people have been hospitalized in 12 states, according to the CDC.
..... Symptoms of salmonella generally develop six hours and six days after eating contaminated food, and include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. The illness can be more serious for very young children, frail elderly or those with weakened immune systems. It usually lasts four to seven days and most people recover without treatment.
