Plans calls use of longtime AAA branch in Wayne

WAYNE - An organization that provides day care for senior citizens has acquired the former AAA branch on Hamburg Turnpike, where it plans to open a health and wellness center.

Senior LIFE, based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, wants to renovate the 19,042-square-foot branch office at the corner of Duncan Lane. the proposed center would be 3,700 square feet larger, and it would feature a covered entrance for drop-off and pickups of clients.
..... A drawing on file a the municipal building shows that the number of parking spots would stay the same - 68 - but covered interference would replace some spots. To make up for the room, a second lot would be on the other side of the center.
..... A limited liability company affiliated with Senior LIFE submitted paperwork to the township Planning Department. Its application will be considered by the Zoning Board of Adjustment because two sue variances are required.
..... Senior LIFE has 12 locations - all in Pennsylvania.
..... It offers a one-stop shop for seniors, including everything from nutrition counseling and physical therapy to social services. Bus transportation to and from the center would be provided, according to its zoning application. An important part of its program is prescription drugs, and it would staff pharmacists to manage clients' medication regimens.
..... Such comprehensive care is commonly known as Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, or PACE - a Medicare program for people 55 and u.
..... There are eight PACE agencies operating in New Jersey, but none of their centers is in this area. the nearest, called Lutheran Senior LIFE, is at Jersey City Medical center. It is available only to those who live in Hudson County.
