Rutgers dean accused of taking up-skirt videos on campus

A dean at Rutgers University has been arrested for allegedly using a cellphone to record "up-skirt" video while working at the school, officials announced Joshua Kohut, 51, of Cranbury, who is dean of research at Rutgers' School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. has been charged with fourth-degree invasions of privacy. Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced in a release on Tuesday, August 25. [2026]

"The defendant is alleged to have use his mobile phone to record 'up-skirt' videos without his victim's knowledge," Davenport said in a statement. "An invasion of privacy like this is not just disturbing, it is also a noncriminal act. We will prosecute accordingly."
..... Davenport said a search warrant was executed on Sunday [08/23/2026] and one of the devices seized contained up-skirt videos of another individual.
..... A Rutgers University spokesperson said Kohut was put on administrative leave after official learned of "the extremely disturbing charges. he also is banned from campus pending the outcome of an investigation."
