..... A salmonella outbreak has been linked to jalapeno peppers, with 345cases being reported in 27 states.

The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state helaht officials are investigating the outbreak, which had led to 36 hospitalizations but no deaths as of August 5. [2026]
.....The CDC has tied the outbreak to jalapeno peppers from Sinaloa, Mexico, distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors, which has recalled peppers linked to salmonella.
..... National fast-food chains Chipiotle Mexican Grill and Odoba have stopped serving the affected peppers, and Odoba has stopped selling jalapenos altogether, the CDC said.
..... The jalapeno peppers from Coast Citrus Distributors were primarily distributed to restaurants or wholesale sellers. The CDC has not determined whether any were sold in supermarkets.
..... New Jersey and other northeastern states are not on the list of 27 states affected by the salmonella outbreak. The closes states with affected patients are Ohio and West Virginia.

Symptoms of salmonella
..... The CDC said people should contact a doctor if they experience any of the following severe symptoms:

Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102 Degrees F.
* Diarrhea for more than three days that is not improving.
* Bloody diarrhea.
* so much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down
* Signs of dehydration, such as not peeing much, dry month and throat, feeling dizzy when standing up.
