..... In what appears to be a last desperate plea to President Donald Trump, former Senator Bob Menendez posted on social media that his wife and co-defendant, Nadine Arslania Menendez, is being "forced by the government to go to trial tomorrow" [03/18/2025] despite having breast cancer reconstructive surgery just days ago.
...... "Only the arrogance of the SDNY can be so cruel and inhumane," said the post, published on X. "they could let her full recover!"
..... Menendez also sagged Trump in the post.
..... As of noon on Monday, [03/17/2025] there had been no public filing with the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York noting the surgery or requesting a delay because of it. There have been multiple pretrial conference this month. [03/2025]
..... Arslanian Menendez's trail is scheduled to begin Tuesday. [03/18/2025]
..... She was indicted and charge alongside her husband and three New Jersey businessmen. The former senator and co-conspirators Wael Hana and Fred Daibes were convicted and have been sentenced to years in prison.
..... The third businessman, Jose Uribe, cooperate with prosecutors by testifying at their trial.
..... Arsanian Menendez's trail was delayed due to a breast caner diagnosis. Originally, it was only made public that she had a "serious medical conditions." Menendez revealed her diagnosis during his trial.
..... "Nadine is suffering from Grade 3 breast cancer, which will require her to have mastectomy surgery," a statement from Menendez said at the time. "We are of course, concerned aobut the seriouness and advanced stage of the disease. She will requre follow up surgery and possibly radiation treatment."
..... The trial was delayed numerous times while she underwent treatment.
..... This isn't the first time Menendez has appealed to Trump. After his sentencing, he called the process "political" and "corrupted to the core" before saying he hopes Trump "cleans up the cesspool and restorers the integrity to the system."
..... He also slammed the work of the Southern District and said prosecutors had "no countability as to who or how or what happened."
..... "That's outrageous and unbelievable," Menendez said. "Only in the SDNY can you embrace an FBI agent who was caught lying on the stand in order to make their case."
