Trump names Alima Habba as US attorney for NJ

..... President Donald Trump announced Monday [03/24/2025] that Aliina Habba, a longtime personal attorney and current legal adviser to his campaign, will serve as the interim U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, effective immediately.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump called Habba's appointment "a great pleasure," praising her as someone who "will fight tirelessly to secure a legal system hat is both fair and just for the wonderful people of New Jersey."
..... In response, Habba expressed her gratitude and said it's "time top make New Jersey great again."
..... "I am honored to serve my home state of New Jersey as Interim U.S. Attorney and I am grateful to President Donald Trump for entrusting me with this tremendous responsibility," she wrote on X. "Just like I did during my time as President Trump's personal attorney. I will continue to fight for trust and justice. We will end the weaponize of justice, once and for all."
..... Trump also said John Giordano, who had been serving as the interim U.S. attorney in the state, will be nominated as the next U.S. ambassador to Namibia.

She grained national attention while representing him in several civil and criminal cases, including his legal battle with New York Attorney General Letitia James and writer E. Jean Carroll. In 2023, she was named counsel to Trump's Save America PAC and later joined his inner legal circle as "counselor to the president.

She is a Chaldean Catholic, and her family has roots in Iraq. A gradate of Widener University School of Law, Habba previously served as managing partner at Habba Madajo & Associates in Bedminster. Before working with Trump, she handled civil litigation and corporate law in private practice.
