Trump takes aim at Canada's bombardier
Firm's U.S. headquarters helps manufacture jets

..... President Donald Trump says sales of Canada's Bombardier jets in the United States may be up in the air after he pressured the aerospace company to manufacture its products in America in a Truth Social post on Labor Day. [09/07/2026]

"NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren't' enough! Over 50% of their revenue comes from the United States," Trump said in a September 7 [2026] Truth Social post, adding that if Bombardier wants "our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a 'piggyback.'"
..... Bombardier, however, has U.S. headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, that helps manufacture the company's entire family of Learjet, Challenger and Globaljets, according to a company news release from 2022.
..... A number of U.S. carriers use Bombardier regional jets in their fleets, and Reuters reported that about half of the 5.100 aircraft operated by Bombardier customers are in the United States.
..... "They even blocked Gulfsteam Aerospace from ding business in Canada - Completely unjust and unfair!" Trump said in his post.

Trump comments come after he imposed 50% tariffs in august [2026] on about $20 billion of imports from Canada, which later responded with retaliatory tariffs after crucial trade talks crumbled between the two North American nations. trump said in an August 24 [2026] post on Truth Social that "Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years" after his administration failed to reach a trade deal with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
