What's next for former Senator Bob Menendez?
..... After being convicted in July [2024] and announcing his intent to appeal, Menendez dropped his independent bid to retain his Senate seat and resigned.
..... Since then, his attorneys asked for p and were denied - a new trial after it was revealed that the jury may have viewed evidence that was supposed to be redacted. Prosecutors announced in late December [2024] that even more evidence, this time text message, could have been seen by the jury.
..... He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 29, [2025] and a lengthy appeal process is expected to follow.
What next for Nadine Arsianian Menendez?
..... Nadine Arslanian Menendez is set to stand trial beginning January 21 [2025] on bribery and corruption charges. Her trial was initially postponed in the spring because of a breast cancer diagnosis. Last month, [11/2024] her attorney requested a further postponement. The attorney has a different client facing charges related to the January 6 [2021] insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, but the judge denied the date change.
