Cucumbers recalled in NJ due to salmonella

Fresh Start Produce Sales, based in Delray, Florida, is recalling he vegetables sent to 14 states from May 14 through May 21. [2024] those affected include New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania along with states as far south as Florida and as far west as Illinois.
..... The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture initiated the recall after informing Fresh Start that a product sample tested postie for salmonella. The FDA is advising consumers to check with their grocer whether they sold the recalled products, through the agency said the contaminated cucumbers likely did not make it to grocery stores.
What is salmonella?
..... Salmonella is a bacteria that spreads through raw or undercooked foods, or food handlers who do not wash their hands or surfaces and tools while preparing meals, according to the FDA.
Salmonella symptoms
..... Common symptoms of the disease include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, while more severe cases may produce fever, headaches, lethargy or blood in the urine or stool.
..... Most people infected with salmonella will develop symptoms 12 to 72 hours after coming in contact with the bacteria, the FDA stated. Children younger than 5, the elderly and others with weakened immune systems may develop more serious symptoms that can lead to hospitalization and even be fatal in some cases.
