Former senator's wife sentenced to federal prison in scandal

.....  Nadine Arslanian Menedez, wife of former U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, has filed a notice of appeal fr her conviction and sentence, according to federal court documents.

    Arslanian Menendez was sentenced September 11 [2025] to more than four years - 54 months - in federal prison for her part in a bribery and corruption scandal.
    ..... Arslanian Menendez was convicted on charges brought by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York in a sprawling indictment that included bribery, extortion and obstruction of justice in a multilevel scheme that traded envelopes of cash, gold bars and a new Mercedes for official acts that benefited Qatar and Egypt. Arslanina Menendez revived her sentence in federal court in lower Manhattan.
    ..... Arslanian Menendez's sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release, and she will pay a forfeiture of $922,188.10.
    ..... Menendez, his wife and three New Jersey businessmen - Wael Hana, Fred Daibes and Jose Uribe - were charged with orchestration a bribery scheme. Menendez and his wife allegedly received gifts in exchange for the sue of his political influence.
    ..... The federal indictment against the group was first unsealed in September 2023 and was updated with superseding indictments three times - in October of that year [2023] and again in January and March 2024.
    ..... The former senator was sentenced to 11 years in prison, Hana more than eight years and Daibles seven years.  Daibes was fined $1.75 million; Hana was fined $1.3 million. all three are appealing their cases. All three are currently in prison serving their sentence and filed appeals in February. [2025]
    ..... The next set of court documents in  their appeals are due on October 14. [2025]

    After several delays, the last player and star witness in both trials, Uribe, will be sentenced on October 9. [2025]
    ..... Uribe initially entered a plea of not guilty to seven charges but later changed it to guilty an agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors. he spent several days last summer [2025] testifying against Menendez and admitted to bribing him.
